Behind the Front Line
This year you see what others don’t
During the Soesterberg Summer Offensive you come face to face with impressive military aircraft and vehicles: from a Sherman tank from World War II to the supersonic F-16 Orange Jumper. This edition we do things a little differently. We take you behind the front!
There is an old military saying: amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics. Behind every frontline soldier, dozens of military personnel and civilians stand ready – from support, medical, and logistics units. People you may not often see, but without whom no mission succeeds.
Visit an operational field hospital. See with your own eyes how logistical supply on the battlefield works. And feel the ground shake when the Leopard 2 bridge-laying tank goes into action – a remarkable feat of engineering you won’t soon forget.
This year you look behind the front. Make sure you’re there!

Ready for Action?
The outdoor grounds of the National Military Museum are large, very large! You’ll find a tank arena with grandstand and an activity area. There is also a huge concrete strip where you’ll find many special collection pieces.
What can you expect at the Soesterberg Summer Offensive?

- Watch our driving collection in action during the spectacular tank show.
- A unique behind-the-scenes look at our depot.
- Cool activities for children, such as a bootcamp and driving a mini-jeep yourself.

A look behind the scenes
During the Soesterberg Summer Offensive, you get the unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes. Our depot is full of collection pieces that you normally do not get to see, but you will on the weekend of August 29 & 30!

Cool kids' activities
There is plenty to do for younger visitors too! Children can drive the mini-jeep and test their military skills. Who will have the fastest time on the obstacle course? Make sure you remain invisible and camouflage yourself like a real soldier!
Unfortunately, the regular outdoor activity ‘ride-along in a military vehicle’ is not possible this weekend due to the tank shows.
