Air Force Square
Soesterberg Air Force Base is the cradle of the Netherlands’ military aviation. This is where the first Dutch aircraft took to the air over 100 years ago, after which Soesterberg went on to wax into a major military base. At the Soesterberg Summer Offensive, we will be bringing this history back to life with a variety of military aircraft as well as the attendance of a number of Air Force squadrons.
Army Square
To a large extent, our collection consists of army equipment. In addition to a static display of this collection, a number of vehicles can also be admired in action at the Arena!* This year, we have a number of special tanks and vehicles from the War Heritage Institute Belgium over visiting.
*In association with the Stichting Mobiele Artillerie (Mobile Artillery Foundation) and the Royal Netherlands Army (RCKL).
Open depot
A behind-the-scenes look
The Soesterberg Summer Offensive offers visitors the unique opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look. Our depot is jam-packed with collection pieces which normally are not on display to visitors. The 1 and 2 July weekend is about to change this!
Check out the ‘out of sight’ collection at close quarters, including the McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II. Find out more about and see more of our various projects.
Brawny kids-activities
We have also thought of the kids. At the event, kids get to drive the mini-jeep or mini-tank and test their military skills. Who completes the obstacle course fastest? Stay invisible: dress up and make up like a real trooper!
Sadly hitching a ride on one of the military vehicles is unavailable at the event weekend because of the tank shows.
You will need a ‘Zomeroffensief 2023’ ticket to attend the event. Children aged up to and including 3 years of age get in free. However, you will need to get yourself a zero euro ticket. There is a concessionary ticket price tor children aged 4 up to and including 12 and card holders (see extra admission information).
